Christian Schweers

Coach Schweers, 35 years old is a Montgomery native. He enters his 2nd  season as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Huntsville High School. He guided the Crimson Panthers to an Elite-8 finish for the first time in school history. They also won the Class 7A Area 7 Championship--a first for the program since 2005. The 15 wins they achieved last season was the most since the 2011-12 season. He has spent 14 seasons as either a Head Coach or an Assistant Coach at the High School level. He most recently was an Assistant Basketball Coach at Mountain Brook High School, where he was a part of 4 State Championships. The late Jack Schweers, Coach Schweers' father, was a long time coach who retired after 42 seasons on the High school and college levels. Mother Teri, sister Laurel (30). Married to Lou Ellen, formerly of Decatur, and proud parents of their  daughters, Olivia (2) and Eleanor (5 months). Coach Schweers and his family reside in Blossomwood.

Prior Coaching Experience: 

  • Asst. Boys Basketball Coach and Head Freshman Coach at Mountain Brook (4 state championships in 7 seasons)
  • Athletic Director & Head Basketball Coach at Cornerstone High School (Elite 8) 
  • Asst. Boys Basketball Coach at Trinity Presbyterian HS (2 Elite Eight appearances)

Playing Experience:

  • Started all 3 seasons in HS for Father and Coach Jack Schweers at Trinity HS (2000-2003)
  • Class 4A All-State Team, Senior season
  • 2002-2003 Montgomery Advertiser 3A-4A “Player of the Year”
  • AHSAA North/South All-Star Game (2002)
  • Alabama Challenge AAU (2002)
  • 1,000 point club at Trinity HS 
  • Still holds school record for single season FT% (87.8% -2003)
  • Averaged 17.8 ppg, and 8.2 apg senior year
